Ferrari F355 Explained:
The Ferrari F355 was first introduced in 1994 in GTB/Coupe form with the 2.7 Motronic Engine Management System, in 1995 the Spider/Convertible and GTS/Targa were presented and the car became an instant success. For the 1996 model the Engine Management System on all three types of car were replaced with the 5.2 Motronic System.
The difference between the two system is substantial; first and most importantly the M2.7 cars produced more power and torque as it had two separate mass air flow sensors, one for each bank of the engine whereas the M5.2 car had only one. Furthermore, the aim of the M5.2 was to make the cars more emissions compliant which were aided by the fitment of 4 O2 sensors. Since the F355 Spider was introduced in 1995 and the Engine Management System was replaced for 1996, it is believed that there are less than 50 examples like this in the UK.
